A letter to the editor is a message you write to a newspaper or other publication to share your view on a current issue you feel is important in your community, state, or country.
Writing a letter to the editor is easy! Sending letters to the editor are important advocacy goals because they can:
Reach a large audience.
Are often monitored by elected officials.
Can bring up information not addressed in a news article.
Can create an impression of widespread support for or opposition an issue.
Tips on Writing Letters to the Editor:
Keep it short and address only one subject:
Keeping your letters brief will help assure that your important points are not cut out by the newspaper.

Use a computer if your handwriting is difficult to read.
Be sure to include your contact information:
